Perhaps the best dark chocolate sauce on the planet. This recipe comes from America's Test Kitchen and I cannot find any room for improvement. It is perfection in a bowl and simple to make. Makes 10 servings.
3 oz. unsweetened dark chocolate, chopped
In a sauce pan:
2/3 cup whole milk, do not use lower fat milk
1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tea. salt
Cook until sugar is melted and boiling
1/3 cup cocoa powder
Added to boiling milk, whisk until fully incorporated
Remove from heat
Add chopped dark chocolate
Stir until melted
4 Tbl. unsalted butter
1 tea. good quality vanilla extract
Add to hot chocolate mix
Get ready to serve.
Refrigerate in sealed container any unused portion, although hey, I cannot imagine there will be much left. Can be reheated in microwave in future servings.
